Dear customer,

I was raised in Lehi, UT, by great parents who taught me the value of work ethic and dedication. Both of my parents worked full-time; my dad was a machinist, and mom was a school teacher. My dad is in his 70’s and still pulls 300 ft. fertilizer hoses all summer long to help my older brother, Andy, grow his lawncare business. This same brother is the head football coach at Lehi High School. Also, you should know I’m an identical twin, because if you bump into my brother, Matt, at the grocery store you might think it’s me :)

I was born with ambition and determination to accomplish whatever I set my mind upon. In my youth I was always encouraged to pursue my talents in art, architecture, and building things like tree houses, erector sets, and model cars. I played sports and studied architecture throughout high school and college, but quickly realized my passion wasn’t in sports or sitting at a desk designing buildings. So I switched my major to business management to pursue my passion for entrepreneurship. Throughout college I experimented with sales jobs and helped my older brother with his lawncare business (which is where my experience in landscaping began). In 2009 I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Southern Virginia University, and began my professional life in sales and entrepreneurship.

After chasing sales all over the country for five years, I moved home in 2016 after receiving the heartbreaking news that my older brother’s four year old daughter (AJ) had contracted stage four cancer. I quit sales to help Andy with his lawncare business. After two years AJ won the fight against cancer! — and throughout this timeframe while helping my brother I picked up a few landscaping jobs and established Haddy Inc full time, starting off on my own in the summer of 2017.

To gain more experience, I spent my first two full winters landscaping in Arizona working for other contractors. Winter 2018 as a subcontractor in an insurance case against a large developer. This is where I gained specialized knowledge and standards in proper grading, compaction, and drainage for patios, walls, and pools. The following winter I fulfilled a lifelong dream of working with my uncle, Ken Brown, whose work I admired and followed throughout childhood and undergrad studies of architecture. He owns a design-build firm based in Phoenix (“B Plus Design Build” - Google it and you’ll see why I admire the custom nature and attention to the detail in every inch). I learned the habits of successful contracting from Ken, and in the spring of 2019 I moved back to Utah and acquired my general contractor license (B100), to begin offering full installation services for landscapes, patios, pools, retaining walls, and other exterior features.

In 2020 I subcontracted the pool building portion of each job to an experienced builder, who allowed me to learn the process from his own subs and workers. My interest was piqued in pools as the main focal point of a custom landscape. So I learned each step of pool construction hands-on, and subsequently taught my own crew. By the end of 2024 we had either subbed or built 10 pools alongside custom patios, walls and landscapes.

Through my own experience and that of working alongside others (both the good and the bad), I’ve learned there is no fast-track to high quality workmanship, and transparent communication is the key to trust with customers and employees. Haddy Inc now employs our own in-house team who is equally devoted to the vision of becoming the best pool builder in Utah by slowing down to pay special attention to the details of each project, delivering quality results instead of quantity, and open communication during every step of the process.

I love running my business and seeing the smiles on customer’s faces as their vision comes together, as well as my teammate’s satisfaction from our hard work as the finished result takes shape. A custom pool, patio, and landscape is a big investment, I believe you deserve a contractor with experience who also provides excellent communication throughout your project — I look forward to earning your business as well as that of your friends and family through a relationship of trust.
